Frequently Asked Questions

Do you Deliver puppies?

Yes! We have puppies all over the United States! We can have a flight nanny deliver your puppy to you at your nearest airport for an additional charge. We only transport our puppies in the cabin.

Why is it important to purchase your puppy from a registered ALAA breeder?

The ALAA holds breeders to the highest standards of breeding. They have been educating breeders and owners since 2004. All breeding dogs in an ALAA program must pass minimum health testing before they are cleared to be a breeding dog in our program. All litters born are registered and logged in the ALAA data base, so their genetic lineage is then traceable. This then promotes responsible and ethical breeding and the very best for our breed and our dogs and their owners.

Can we pick our puppy?

Yes! When the puppies are six weeks old, we invite the families out to our home. Puppies are chosen in the order that they are on that litters reservation list. We have you meet the puppies, and we share with you our observations of the puppies based on our time spent with the puppies and help you determine which puppy will be the right fit for your family!

Which Gender should we choose? Male or Female?

We encourage you have an open mind when coming into this process. Many times, your ideas are preconceived because of past dog relationships, which could be influenced by breed, temperament and training. Temperament of each individual puppy, the environment, your family, the training and nurture you will be providing the puppy are the factors in which should be going to this decision. Male and Female Australian Labradoodle puppies are equally loving, smart and easy to train.

Are Australian Labradoodles good with children?

Australian Labradoodles are great with children. They are loving, playful and friendly. That being said, A puppy is a puppy. Puppies need training and structure. Training is the best gift you can give your dog for a happy life. It’s important that children learn how to interact with puppies. Puppies are teething and get excited. Children need to be taught how to properly interact with a puppy.

How much exercise does an Australian Labradoodle need?

Australian Labradoodles are fun and active dogs, but they still enjoy movie night with the family too! Fetch in the backyard or a few walks around the block, your ALD will be happy to be out exercising with you. They enjoy long walks, hiking, or just running with the kids. They are happy and social and just want to be spending time with you!

What is “Allergy Friendly”?

Australian Labradoodles have coats that are more like human hair. People with allergies and asthma tend to be much more tolerant of the coats that have hair versus fur. This is also why ALD’s need to be groomed. They need haircuts. Our dogs also come from many generations of Australian Labradoodle bred to Australian Labradoodle, the farther out the generation the better this is for allergy friendly and shedding also!

Is the Australian Labradoodle an AKC recognized breed? What if I DNA test my dog?

No, “Since the Australian Labradoodle is not an AKC recognized breed, DNA testing companies have not developed a test specifically for the ALD. That means DNA and other lineage tests cannot be relied upon to accurately report our dogs genetic makeup or to determine the validity of a breeders claims to the lineage of their dogs. The ALAA has made extensive efforts to track and verify the pedigrees of our registered dogs, therefor an ALAA verified pedigree is the only true identifier of an Australian Labradoodle.” (From the ALAA website) https://alaa-labradoodles.com/
